Months ago, I spoke to believers about baser instincts within our western culture–hedonism, nihilism, and narcissism. This discourse culminated into talks about our President’s Christian views on same-sex marriage–right-wing vs left-wing. Although I agreed with some of his views, I believed President Obama was electioneering and intriguing for votes by not answering the question, “Does he believe in same-sex marriages?”
Quentintessentially speaking, most Evangelic Christians are conservatives and take an uncompromising stance on same-sex marriages, I also take an unadulterated stance. During the discussion, someone asked if I leaned toward the right on the matter. I retorted; although I uphold the reviews of the conservatives on this matter, I am liberal and support other issues of the left-wing party. My concern was that our President treated the question about same-sex marriage as a difficult conundrum.
Today, after hearing his sentiments, I am not surprised; however, disappointed. Is President Obama’s team micro targeting to get votes? The Authoritative KJ Bible delineates that God created man and woman for each other to cleave together as one. Genesis 2:24, the Hebrew word wife in this verse is ishshah, Strong’s H802, which means female, menstrual. The Hebrew word male in this verse means iysh, Strong’s H375, which means opposed to a women, of a male offspring.
Moreover, marriage is legal status, conditions, or relationship that results from contract by which one man and one woman, who have the capacity to enter such an agreement, mutually promise to live together in the relationship of Husband and Wife in law for life or until the legal termination of the relationship. Marriage is a legally sanctioned contract between a man and a woman. Entering into a marriage contract changes the legal status of both parties, giving husband and wife new rights and obligations. Public policy is strongly in favor of marriage based on the belief that it preserves the family unit. Traditionally, marriage has been viewed as vital to the preservation of morals and civilization.
North Carolina took a stance on this by upholding the legal status of marriage and rejected same-sex marriage. Is our President’s stance a slap in their face? Does this leave several states with political dimension?
Let us not forget the atmospher in 2008-2009. God appointed Obama to Presidency to change the history of this world, although the atmosphere was tough, for the first time voters who were once jaded, were captivated by mid-term elections and the primaries. Record numbers of new voters registered to vote for the 2009 November presidential election in the United States. The euphoric atmosphere was the beginning of a new environment, a very new world atmosphere.
Yesterday, as a leader of the free world, our President took a political risk by voicing his evolution on free marriage. Unequivocally, this has changed the atmosphere of the next election. Will democrats, choose not to vote, or lean toward the right. Has Obama placed judgement on the United States because he has rejected the Word of God and righteousness, which is right doing?
